HOUSEKEEPING ATTENDANT (TRANSIT HOTEL)

POSITION SUMMARY
Changi Travel Services Pte. Ltd. is seeking motivated, reliable, and detail-oriented individuals to join its hospitality team as a Housekeeping Attendant in a Transit Hotel located within Changi Airport.
Unlike conventional hotels, a transit hotel accommodates passengers who stay for only a few hours or overnight while waiting for connecting flights. As a result, guestrooms require rapid turnover while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation. Housekeeping Attendants play a vital role in ensuring every room is thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, organized, and fully prepared before the arrival of the next guest.
This position requires individuals who can work efficiently under time pressure without compromising quality. Successful candidates should demonstrate excellent attention to detail, physical stamina, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to delivering outstanding hospitality service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Guest Room Cleaning and Preparation
The Housekeeping Attendant is responsible for maintaining guestrooms in accordance with hotel cleanliness standards by:
Cleaning assigned guestrooms thoroughly and efficiently.
Making beds using fresh linen and replacing used bed sheets and pillowcases.
Vacuuming carpets and cleaning hard floors.
Dusting and wiping all furniture, shelves, desks, chairs, wardrobes, televisions, telephones, mirrors, windows, and decorative items.
Cleaning glass surfaces until streak-free.
Emptying waste bins and replacing trash liners.
Inspecting every corner of the room for dust, stains, or debris.
Ensuring the room is fresh-smelling, neat, organized, and guest-ready before releasing it for occupancy.
Maintaining consistency in room presentation according to hotel standards.
2. Bathroom Cleaning and Sanitization
Maintain the highest hygiene standards by cleaning and disinfecting all bathroom facilities, including:
Toilets.
Wash basins.
Bathtubs.
Shower cubicles.
Shower heads.
Bathroom mirrors.
Floor and wall tiles.
Drains.
Water taps.
Bathroom accessories.
Housekeeping Attendants must ensure bathrooms are free from:
Hair.
Soap residue.
Water stains.
Mold.
Bad odors.
Dirt.
Mineral deposits.
Only approved cleaning chemicals should be used while following all safety instructions.
3. Replenishment of Guest Amenities
After completing room cleaning, attendants must restock all required guest supplies, including but not limited to:
Bath towels.
Hand towels.
Face towels.
Bath mats.
Toilet paper.
Facial tissues.
Shampoo.
Shower gel.
Conditioner.
Body lotion.
Toothbrushes.
Toothpaste.
Disposable slippers.
Complimentary bottled water.
Coffee.
Tea.
Sugar.
Creamer.
Laundry bags.
Stationery (where applicable).
All amenities must be placed neatly according to hotel presentation standards.
4. Cleaning and Disinfecting High-Touch Areas
To ensure guest safety and prevent cross-contamination, attendants must disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as:
Door handles.
Light switches.
Television remote controls.
Telephones.
Air-conditioning controls.
Cabinet handles.
Refrigerator handles.
Desk surfaces.
Bedside tables.
Bathroom door handles.
Lift buttons (where assigned).
Color-coded cleaning cloths and equipment must be used according to hotel hygiene procedures.
5. Room Status Management
Housekeeping staff are expected to understand and perform cleaning procedures based on room status, including:
Occupied Rooms.
Departure Rooms.
Vacant Clean Rooms.
Vacant Dirty Rooms.
VIP Rooms.
Transit Rooms.
Day-Use Rooms.
Out-of-Service Rooms.
Priority should always be given to urgent arrivals, VIP guests, and supervisor instructions.
6. Guest Service Responsibilities
Housekeeping Attendants contribute directly to guest satisfaction by:
Greeting guests politely.
Responding professionally to guest requests.
Delivering extra towels, pillows, blankets, or toiletries.
Performing refresh cleaning for occupied rooms.
Respecting guest privacy.
Handling guest belongings carefully.
Reporting unusual guest requests to supervisors.
Maintaining a friendly and professional attitude at all times.
Excellent customer service is expected throughout every interaction.
7. Maintenance Reporting
During room inspections, attendants must identify and report maintenance issues, including:
Air-conditioning malfunction.
Water leakage.
Faulty electrical outlets.
Broken furniture.
Damaged curtains.
Burned-out light bulbs.
Cracked mirrors.
Plumbing problems.
Television faults.
Hair dryer malfunction.
Loose fittings.
Damaged door locks.
Reports should be accurate and submitted promptly to ensure timely repairs.
8. Housekeeping Trolley and Pantry Management
Employees are responsible for maintaining:
Organized housekeeping trolleys.
Clean linen storage.
Adequate stock of guest amenities.
Proper storage of chemicals.
Clean housekeeping pantry.
Safe arrangement of cleaning equipment.
Stock shortages must be reported before supplies are depleted.
9. Lost and Found Procedures
Housekeeping staff must follow strict Lost and Found policies by:
Recording all found items accurately.
Immediately reporting valuable belongings.
Submitting found property to the designated supervisor.
Maintaining complete confidentiality regarding guest belongings.
Never removing, keeping, or using guest property under any circumstances.
Failure to comply with Lost and Found procedures may result in disciplinary action.
10. Workplace Safety and Chemical Handling
Employees must:
Follow all Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) regulations.
Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Handle cleaning chemicals according to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
Operate housekeeping equipment safely.
Report damaged cleaning equipment immediately.
Use proper lifting techniques to avoid injury.
Display wet-floor warning signs whenever necessary.
Maintain awareness of potential workplace hazards.
Safety is the responsibility of every employee.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants should possess:
Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience (preferred).
Hotel housekeeping experience (advantageous).
Ability to work rotating shifts, including overnight shifts.
Ability to work weekends and Singapore public holidays.
